Work Hard at Work Worth Doing

Pros

The single best reason to work for POET is the vision. There is nothing more rewarding than working hard at work worth doing. It is imparative that we finally become energy independant. Other than the big vision thing, its also very challenging and the people are very good.

Cons

New HR movement is hurting the company. We need to be able to ensure that everybody is on the same team, or get rid of them without jumping through 6 months worth of hoops. Also the computerization of all HR things is horrendous. It now takes three times as long as in the past to comlete any training etc. Simply put I need about 15 mins of HR training a year, anyone that needs more than that, is a moron that the 12 hours wont help anyway.

Pros

Great coworkers who do not hesitate to lend a hand. Decent pay for the area for my job classification. Management seems to listen when you have something to say, though it may go in one ear and out the other.

Cons

They base everthing off an 8 hour work day. Well I work 12 hour days and should be compensated that way. Insurance is way to expensive. They like to dip in to your days off with training and other misc. stuff.

Best Job I've Ever Had

Pros

The best thing is knowing that my job is a critical part of making America energy independent. Always a new challenge, not the same old, same old. Great team members. All are willing to pitch in when the situation calls for it. A very smart and hardworking group of people, and its a pleasure to work with them every day. The plant itself is state of the art and everything an op's guy could want. Lots of things to optimize, very robust plant. New system role-out, thanks to R&D and the other plants. How many companies could role out some of the recent major unit operations that POET has in the last year or so? PPM and the other plants- got a question about your plant? There are 27+ people to ask how they do things.

Cons

The movement to all HR related items being on-line has been horrible. If you have a PC at your normal workstation, its nice, but 80% or more of our team does not, and the STANZAifing of all things is a major obstacle. The process has become more important than the content . The PA process now has nothing to do with assessing performance, but is a lesson in resetting passwords countless times.
