Pros

The outside look that you are cared about.

Cons

Nepotism and favoritism run this company. If you have the last name of someone important within the company your job is secure. You can show up late everyday, flirt with management, do far less than most others, and keep your job. If you outperform your peers and have a great attitude but lack the important last name. You're screwed. As soon as COVID hit there were multiple conversations about how secure everyone was and the business was essential. Less than one month later several dozen people were fired over Zoom.

Pros

Starting pay is good. That's it.

Cons

Swing shifts. Plant techs are the lowest "class" of the hierarchy. Shift supervisors act like they are better than the techs, talk down to the techs, talk about people behind their backs, push out anyone that doesn't follow blindly and don't care about their teams. Shift supervisors leave early come in late and don't follow the rules especially during night shifts. Supervisors don't care about their teams or what the techs might have going on in their lives. Basically the shift supervisors run all over you and couldn't care less about the people they are supposed to train and make no secrets about it. Good ol boy system at it's finest!!!

Pros

Not too many employers in South Dakota. With the revolving door you can expect a position opening up anytime.

Cons

Working at POET is like working in a pressure cooker environment. If you are a good performer you will be expected to pickup the slack of others. Burn-out and turn over is very high. See the number of positions continuously open.
