Pros

Employees are nice to work with.

Cons

Management style is that of the yell & tell style from the 1970's. Employees are written up for every minor infraction even when a minute late. Everyone seems to have a 12 hour work load in a given shift. Low pay, high turnover. Low pay. Unfair workload conditions.

Pros

*Decent bank-like hours *Managers are pretty cool and flexible *If you plan ahead your day will be much easier *No curve ball events, you pretty much know what your week will look like *You will inadvertently learn a lot about paints & other products *Deliveries allow you to travel your area and get away from the store environment for a while

Cons

Brace yourself *Sales Reps love to please & cater to idiot contractors who don't know what they are doing. So huge, ridiculous orders are sometimes expected to be done "Right Now!" *Company wants to compete with the "Big Boys", but refuses to use it's resources to do so *You have no control over the air in your store. It is controlled by people in Pittsburgh so if you are working at a store in the south, expect in the summer time for your store to be in the 80s. *Any mistake you make expect higher management to caution you, but when they make mistakes for your store you usually get a "Deal with it" type of answer. * Customers never understand how paint stores operate. Expect 5-6 matches being expected to be finished "Right Now!" *Some other store managers sometimes drag their feet when it comes to transfers. *A lot of pointless training and meetings. *Blaming process is a trickle-down effect. *Higher up management expects you and your PAINT store to be 100% spotless. *Passive-aggressive culture in the higher up management. *Sales Reps never answer their phones when you need them. *Pricing is never correct in your system. *Computer system is very outdated.

Pros

Being able to use floaters 30 day before or 30 day after the particular holiday Paid holidays Benefits were good Also Manager conference in Orlando was fun learned a lot but once you get back to reality they ( leadership team) forgets what the whole mission was about.

Cons

SGM and CSM wants to micromanage you. Paid once a month . No over time. Won't get bonus if you leave before the end of the year Won't acknowledge your hard word. Will only bring up what you did wrong. They expect you to work well over 55 hrs without telling you directly. Doesn't treat Sales associate fairly. Room for promotion is limited since majority of the people have been working there for 10+ years. I tried to move to a different city to better my chances but my SGM held me there and did not allow me to transfer. A lot of politics go into play. For those graduating college DO NOT JOIN THE CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM. It's a TRAP. The people in charge of the program are nice, I have nothing but respect towards them but since they were located at the corporate office hey don't see how things are actually run at the store or by SGM. Unless you are trying to waste your time or desperate don't waste your time.
