Pros

Easy work. Enjoyable days. Much better than working at SW in your day to day activities. Freedom to accomplish what you need to get done. You can price aggressively to win business.

Cons

Lack of knowledge compared to where I came from SW. The culture they need to implement won't work due to employees that are old school and don't want to change. PPG would allow their employees to go bankrupt and not pay them at all if injured on the job as long as they followed their disability regulations. They expected me to be ok for 4 months of 0 income and never offered to help me in any way. I know had to hire lawyers to fix this. Most likely I'll be looking for a new job because the lack of care PPG gives to their employees. I've complained many times to HR about this. They simply don't care it's really disgusting and extremely hurtful. I would never recommend anyone to come work here

Pros

Having over 45,000 employees there are many wonderful people to work with across business units. Nice 401K match. Benefits are on par with what you would expect from a company. Some teams in IT can finally do a work from home day with a lot of conditions in place.

Cons

Too many managers within each department resulted in several barely contributing to the company goals, typically common to see direct reports picking up the slack, with no credit for the efforts. It was not uncommon to see managers take credit to receive 10k bonuses EOY. Why some teams consisting of 6-10 people have two managers is beyond me. Some managers were instructed not to give anything over a 3 out of 5 for most bonus opportunities. Managers are rarely held accountable with employees being blamed for projects being late. Outsourcing is becoming more popular within the company, especially with Oracle. Acquisitions have also resulted in several job cuts.
