Pros

Coworkers here are always eager to help when called upon. There's very little of "it's not my job" syndrome. The flexible work culture is also amazing - with school age kids that are always busy, I really appreciate the schedule flexibility . I've also had the opportunity to work on some amazing projects and take some work that has challenged me, which only helps my growth.

Cons

For me, the "cons" come when we over-extend our strengths. For example, our culture of collaboration can sometimes lead to having "too many cooks in the kitchen" or seeking formal approvals from managers that only need to be informed.

Pros

Good social benefits, good salary!

Cons

I was recruited for a Security Architect position, but I was tricked into working as a Security Engineer because I was told after signing my contract that titles don't mean too much in the company and I will be considered an architect anyway. Then, when I started it turned out there is one more surprise - the manager who hired me was no longer my manager. The new one was very arrogant, obscene and a sexist. He humiliated me a lot by screaming at me, acting like an idiot and then saying that he was joking. I was given several performance bonuses despite his will, because the person who initially hired me was now his manager and he appreciated me a lot. All those stories were told to HR - there is no such thing like gender equality or diversity in this company. Managers like mine can do whatever they want and threat women with disrespect. Even after this was brought to the attention to HR, no one really did anything. Then, I decided that I should leave this hostile environment.

Pros

The people, culture, reasonableness, teamwork. Every person here is kind and capable. They trust you to do your work, and you can approach anyone. There is no micromanagement. Its also a product company that sets their own reasonable pace, and they have all the perks a super large tech company has. CEO Andres was a coder too, and so are many managers so they are understanding.

Cons

Not many I know of.

Pros

Having worked at small agencies and Fortune 500 multi-national corporations, PROS hits the sweet spot for me, which is why I've been here almost a decade. As a testament to the culture, the opportunity for career growth, the interesting and challenging work, many employees have both been at PROS or returned to PROS over the years. Comparing to my other experiences, the culture is honest and approachable starting at the top, with very people-oriented policies like unlimited time off, hybrid work options, resource groups and great benefits. It's a great place to grow in, which we see with many junior team members who have become leads, managers and in many case executives. It's the best place I've worked in 25 years.

Cons

The focus is enterprise software, so you'll need to be creative if you want some variety. We have approached this by working across the organization on various projects to flex new skills and solve different problems. Plus there are many resource groups and other opportunities to keep from getting in a rut.

Pros

401k match; remote; time to update resume

Cons

Managers are blaming subordinates for problems but taking credit for their accomplishments. The time for management to realize that they are watching and listening to the wrong people has come and gone. The social experiment of promoting not because of qualifications but because of saying the right things or being the right color has failed. HR 'business partners' are not the employees' friends, as the pretend to me - IMHO they do that to get dirt to twist around and use against you, and they seem to follow the saying that one lies and another swears to it. One probably ought to educate leadership that negative EBITDA [going from (4.7) to (6.0) Q2 2021 to Q2 2022] and net revenue of 34% is not a good thing under any circumstances (unless the finance team doesn't know what the brackets mean) before the institutional investors, who own (according to Yahoo finance) over 95% of the stock, decide to sell because, after all, they are ultimately accountable to their investors, not to what appears to be a sinking ship. All IMHO........

Good Company, Great People

Pros

- People just genuinely want to do good work and do good by the customer, limited politics in my opinion - Having worked in multiple fortune 500 companies, I can say confidently that management's ego is limited compared to others that I have worked with. Majority of managers were promoted by doing good work and caring - Company role structure is flexible and one can be quite mobile in changing to more senior roles. You're not limited to becoming a people manager

Cons

- Workload can vary greatly depending on project that you are assigned to, this is not a 9 to 5 if you're in a client facing role - Having retention troubles in great resignation era. I believe it's less culture/company and more salary/incentives. Compensation was above-average pre-pandemic, but has not adjusted enough for existing employees

Pros

Ummm, the culture used to be cool

Cons

Politics are game of thrones level. Better be ready for a little light incest to advance. I was blatantly told I was not hired for an internal transfer job because I already work at PROS, and the hiring manager didn't want to hire internal. I was also told I was the most qualified. No response from HR. When I had 5 different bosses over 5 weeks and wasn't sure who was my boss? No response from HR. Be ready for lots of performance reviews like the following (5 years in a row) "well your old boss was fired, and I'm new and not willing to go to bat for you based on our 2 months of experience. Better luck with promotion next year"
