Pros

Contractors pay is negotiable, that's just about it.

Cons

Everything! Department is ran by a bunch of 'too cool for school' guys that hire their best friends to assist them with running the department. Absolutely no minorities in leadership, very condescending, and rude management. You can find better employment elsewhere if your morality matters.

Pros

The office was clean, loved some of my coworkers, but unfortunately they left. Pay was good, benefits were good.

Cons

When I accepted my position with PSEG I was very excited to be working for such a large, well known company. However, within days of starting, I already started regretting my decision to work there. First and foremost, I was given no kind of training or introduction to the Power/Utility industry. Nor was I given any type of training or instruction on work processes. The only reason I was able to learn some things was a coworker being kind enough to have me work with them to familiarize myself with the work. Then within a few weeks they my own projects at me. When my coworker tried to help me, they told her to back off and I had to "sink or swim". The project manager I worked with had no qualms about belittling me, cursing at me, calling me names, etc. When I brought this up to my manager, nothing was done. I was told to toughen up. People seem to spend most of their time in the office prying into what everyone else is doing, passing blame, and pointing fingers. "It is not my job" seems to be the mentality there. There is absolutely no communication whatsoever between departments, and it is impossible to have accurate work when no one responds to your questions. There are serious cliques in the office, and if you are not one of them, they treat you horribly. People are in management positions who really have no knowledge or right to be in one. They treat others with disrespect and unprofessionalism. I just recently left, and am so glad I did, because I would actually feel sick driving into work, knowing I had to spend a day dealing with those people.

Pros

Good colleagues, trying to innovate

Cons

Middle management is "Yes" man and all it does is attend meetings and pass on directives from senior management to low level Project managers. Their only motto is never say no even to the craziest senior management ideas. Pushes all the work accountability to project managers. Process and filling up silly project document templates take precedence over execution for every body except those who are chummy with senior management. The management has a tunnel vision and does not entertain any new ideas from folks who were hired to bring in fresh thinking.
