      High on IoT, short on employee loyalty

      Pros

      While the strategy of the company's changing, their new focus on IoT is spot-on. They are trying to change a legacy software company into software development tool company surrounding all things IoT. You get to work some very smart people who are passionate about their jobs.

      Cons

      The company lacks loyalty towards their resources with contestant lay-offs and then immediately hiring from the outside. The culture of the comaonly is too title oriented. Your title is the basis of how well your ideas are listened to and embraced. All compensation is title based.

      Politics + Management Challenges + Company Direction

      Pros

      + Working from home + Easy hiring process + Travel every other week typically (so you aren't forced to travel weekly)

      Cons

      - Lay offs galore - Executive leadership strategy does not trickle down to managers - Lots of company politics and having to "suck up" to directors to get a promotion (not merit based) - Company is indifferent about poor managerial skills - Clients often have bad POV of PTC - 4 month training academy for Associate Consultants is a joke.. Could be limited to 1 or 2 months! - Was hired with 15 others and told "guaranteed promotion to consultant within 6 months" - worked for a year without a promotion - WAY too many delays- i.e. wasn't assigned a manager until 6 months in and we were supposed to have one at 2 months. - Lots of misdirection.. Poor company foresight led to several months of "being on the bench" with no project work and stagnating. - Too much bureaucracy and lack of communication between various components of the company

      Pros

      - incredibly smart people with good social skills and intellectual curiosity. As far as I can tell, few idiots - excellent for work life balance and WFH - best boss I've ever had and super colleagues. People are outstanding and SMART.. - culture of congeniality - lots of good work. I learn every day.

      Cons

      - Dilbert does come to life at certain times - company still in shock from layoffs in April 2015 and since then. - a lot of change. Corporate line: Opportunity! Or were we late to the game? - come May, may be a lot of shareholder lawsuits due to DOJ action re: China. All this is public info. Might be worth checking.
