Pros

Products are top notch in a competitive market. Very good life/work balance. Good people to work with. Benefits are industry standard.

Cons

No loyalty to employee. Lots of acquistions( could be a pro as well ) make for difficult to understand overall vision. Company seems to try to re-invent itself too often. Must play hardball politics to get ahead. Each department only looks out for itself instead of overall company.

Pros

This company is in the midst of a major transition from PLM to Internet of Things. They are big and influential enough to affect the thinking of the whole industry. Opportunities in this new area of focus should be stimulating and fast-paced in a rapidly growing space. Leadership has bold ideas and generally good instincts on strategy. Generally high performance, intelligent employees.

Cons

Not a lot of loyalty to the employee. A number of cases in recent years in which the quarterly earnings focus caused short term thinking and actions affecting personnel. Portions of executive suite tend to be dominated by politics and alliances over results and logic. To succeed, employees must focus on alliances with key influencers across organization. Tends to over-promise to customers in order to secure short term revenue. Also management-heavy.

Pros

PTC is growing. At one time the company made it's name on its flagship CAD products. Once the competition showed up though, PTC had no plan and fell on its face, but it learned a valuable lesson and began diversifying. They have been ever since. They are good at acquiring companies with upside, and their most recent acquisitions are putting them in a good spot to take a serious place in IoT.

Cons

Don't expect PTC's acquisitions to mean new opportunities though. PTC's slogan should be "the land of silos." It's where careers go to asphyxiate. Training is non-existent, and making it clear that training is part of the critical path for a project is only met with hostility and negative impacts for the "troublemaker." (speaking from experience) So, all of these new acquisitions have become PTC's go-to growth strategy at the expense of learning how to leverage internal talent. If you do go to work there, plan your exit strategy no later than 2 years, or you'll find yourself becoming obsolete to the outside world.
