Pros

You get to say you work in Newport Beach. That's about it.

Cons

When I started here it was a fantastic place to work. They had a great work/life balance. Then there were a few RIFs and some new executive management was brought in. Now this place will suck the soul from you. I have given up so many nights, weekends, birthday parties, and personal things to get work done. It doesn't matter how much you've contributed. If there's a manager who decides they want their friend in a spot instead of someone they may not know, you're screwed. Management is cruel to their employees and there is no recourse. Gaslighting is rampant. Management determines the "truth" of things regardless of what actually may have happened. They want their staff to be competitive and mean and harass those who aren't.

Thank you for your feedback. We know that employees’ personal lives are important and we are sorry to hear that you felt that your personal life was not appropriately respected. We are also sorry to hear about your experiences with open positions as Pacific Life prides itself on recognizing and promoting talent within the company based on merit and performance. Finally, it is contrary to our culture for managers to be deliberately mean when dealing with employees. We are always striving to improve so if you would like to contact us to share additional information, please reach out to our Employee Relations Department at 949-219-3540, or 949-219-3532.

Pros

- Good cafeteria with healthy food options - Good medical benefits with rewards for healthy lifestyle

Cons

- Bad training / incomplete boarding process - HR says they want to hear about workplace abuse, but in reality, they ignore it. - Bad / abusive managers stay in existing positions for a long time, without recourse for their unprofessional and abusive behavior and actions. - Salary is not competitive, and well below market. eg. Project Managers/Business Analysts make 20-30k less than most other companies offer - Daily abuse, intimidation and screaming from management I don't know about other groups in the organization, but mine was a group, headed by a truly unprofessional manager who had no respect for her employees. This manager had a history of abuses, with several employees who quit before me...and absolutely nothing was done to fix the problem. HR ignored all reported issues. I don't know about anywhere else, but 5 employees in a position, in less than a 2 year time frame isn't an indicator of a normal atmosphere. Even sales isn't that cutthroat. Unfortunately, I learned that the building is filled with situations like this, with untrained managers who are tenured into the company. If you have a problem with the situation, it isn't dealt with. Instead, you are invited to leave.

Pros

EVT EVT EVT EVT EVT!!!

Cons

It feels like a slow death working in the annuities customer service department. I have never felt so under appreciated for such a thankless job. The pay SUCKS for what you are required to understand and the information that you need to know never stops growing. Now they want our department to become a one stop shop. What a joke!!! Wow, it feels like you are being buried alive. If you show signs of cracking under the pressure, they will then ostracize you. How can anyone be expected to be an expert on advanced topic that you may only discuss every couple of months??? It's really sad actually for the burnt out AIS' struggling through call after call after call ALL DAY LONG! I heard HR came in recently to sit with the hand picked AIS' cleverly choosen by mgmt. Mgmt is desparately trying to hide the truth. Mgmt would never let HR sit with someome who might be a little too honest. HR, you are dumb! Trusting the enemy! We were finally told we can stand up and stretch... THANKS HR! You will never know how happy I am to finally be out of PL. My new job is great and I now have some joy back in my life. More $$$ too! Any person considering this place for employment needs to RUN!! It might look good at first but nothing could be farther from the truth. The older sup needs to GO! She has a little ceasar syndrome. The other sups and DC's are okay but she only pretends to be supportive. If you rub her wrong or challenge her in the slightest way, you will become her next target. One older man was fired because of her arrogance. She also works longer hours because apparantly she has no life. Really sad to watch!!! Peace out PL peep!
