Pros
The wages recently went up. They hire people (I went through doherty) with criminal history.
Cons
Dangerous. Couple of near misses already. Went to grab a carton and missed it, fingers went into a pinch point between conveyor and hot press. Could of lost about 4 fingers. There is a piece of equipment that shifts lanes and I was clearing a jam (this happens a lot, these machines are old and ALWAYS jamming) it shifted with hand still in there and hurt pretty badly. Was not trained on ANY of the safety hazards. They give a 3 dollar raise to anyone training you, but the training is extremely poor. The trainers are other employees that have been there for a little while, but they don't tell you anything. They give you few tips, but other than that you're left to figure it out on your own. Such as the danger hazards I briefly mentioned. I have only been there for about a month. Since the machines are always jamming, I have to clean up baskets upon baskets of cartons. These baskets are about 3.5 ft high x 4.5 ft long x and 3 ft wide. You're constantly bending over to pick up cartons. They don't have enough baskets, so when you use the bypass on the machine the cartons end up all over the floor. 2 baskets worth minimum in 2 hrs. Sometimes worse. Because of my criminal history, I am stuck doing jobs nobody wants. I have a degree in IT, but no one wants to hire me with my criminal history. I'm basically a irredeemable peasant making someone else rich. My job is making me miserable. I don't want to be homeless, so looks like I'm stuck here. God help me before I end myself.
