Pros

It's a fun place to work - the people who work there are great and young-ish. The people are generally nice and work hard at what they do. The work can also be exciting and there is rarely a dull moment. Also, there can be opportunities to go to events, concerts, etc depending on the project.

Cons

The pay is low, the hours are long. The benefits (health,etc) are awful. Without a trust fund it is hard to sustain a decent standard of living on the wages/ salary in the city. Be prepared to lose your social life outside of work. Getting promoted to a "staff" position seems tedious and difficult to do. Many people (myself included) leave because of that.

Pros

Chill environment to work in. A great place for networking! You will meet people who will remember you and call you for more work. I worked in production and met some great people who then brought me on to other shows. Great place to start your career because you can learn as you go. Many opportunities for promotion and growth.

Cons

The pay isn't that great. Don't let them take advantage of you...MTV is notorious for this. It takes forever to have things approved, so be prepared to wait for things to get done.

Lots of creativity and there are health benefits and greater stability than independent production companies.

Cons

Most employees are freelancers, and the work can be unsteady. They also know that people want to work there and the pay isn't always super comeptitive.
