Pros

There are many different career opportunities within the company itself. MTV employees are generally from a very young crowd - in my department, I don't believe anybody is over 40. MTV provides amazing health benefits and employee discounts with a wide range of companies and services. One of my favorite "perks" is the 10k a year tuition reimbursement (tax free until you you go over 5k I think). If you're lucky, you will get to work with a great team of people.

Cons

It is difficult to move up the ladder within your own department. If you are hired on as a freelancer, it may take a while to get a head count approval and get converted to a full-time position even if your manager and boss recognize your value to the team. If you are below manager level, your pay will not be anything nominal.

Pros

Getting into the Account Coordinator role is an amazing opportunity to get your foot in the door. It opens up a lot of opportunities. Once you hit the 7th and 8th month mark, you become extremely desirable to employers. It's a great job to have on your resume. The workload can get extremely demanding and even overwhelming at times, but the knowledge an experience you gain is invaluable. Immediate management is really great. They really fight for you and look out for your benefit. If you have a strong work ethic and you show that you care about your job, your immediate management is on your side at all times. The company likes to promote within, which is great.

Cons

The money is not great. Although it's expected in the Account Coordinator role, it's very disappointing when getting promoted, because your salary doesn't increase that much. This is why the turnover is very high - people move to different companies where they make at least 10K more. Again, the work gets very hard and demanding at times (depending on the quarter), so be prepared for very long days.
