Pros

summer fridays ?? do they still even do that?

Cons

viacom is a JOKE, management is a JOKE. i started here and the office had over 200 employees. the office is down to maybe 10 full time employees and 40 temps they will never actually hire full time and just severely overwork and underpay them. the culture at the office is toxic, management cares very little and is obviously waiting for their severance (everyone openly admits this).

Pros

I had some great coworkers whom I will remain friends with. Occasional team outings were a fun way to get everyone together.

Cons

The entire Client Services department (including the New York and LA offices on video) was called into a meeting room and given the news that the Planner position was being eliminated. We were given the option to apply for a few positions, but there were not enough jobs to cover the amount of planners being eliminated. The department had been in limbo for months, but we had always been told the Planner position was just going to be reorganized, not eliminated. So when we were called into a mandatory, urgent meeting (which was only put on our calendars that morning), you could imagine the feeling of shock and betrayal that was felt by not only the Planners and Specialists, but the Managers as well. Due to the way this was handled, I had already determined that this company did not value or respect me enough for me to want to stay. I set up a meeting with HR in order to discuss the severance package and the interaction I had was the straw that broke the camel's back, to say the least. During my one-on-one meeting with HR, I was met with no sympathy, and frankly no emotion at all. I understand CBSi is a large company and this was simply a business decision, but for someone in human resources, I would think they could muster up some empathy for someone who was just told their position was eliminated. She let me know that the severance was going to be one paycheck (two-weeks). Having already had a rough day, I got emotional as I was worried about having enough buffer time to find a new job. The woman in HR told me "This is a business decision, I am not losing sleep over this. If I were losing sleep, I would speak up and say something, but I'm not." And this came from someone who works for a company that tries to preach a culture of a friendly work-environment. Additional: - Very low pay. - The sales team treated client services like we were their servants.

Pros

The benefits were the best thing about the job.

Cons

Everything else. Zero work-life balance, overworked, management tells you you're not good enough no matter how much work you do or how many obstacles you clear in your daily tasks. There are no perks to working there, you have to plead your case for months just to get a new coffee maker for your department. The company, as a whole, tries to divide and conquer; you will never be able to mingle with people in neighboring departments or people you email every single day. And if you do get the chance to do that, management will try to only take some people and create conflict within the team. No one at this company is happy, so if that's important to you then don't bother. I cannot stress enough: This was the worst career I have made in my life and I would immediately become sad the moment I drove onto the property every single day.

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. I am disappointed to hear that you feel that your time spent at CBS Interactive was not beneficial to your career. Specifically, I am sorry that you felt that you weren’t able to cross-collaborate with other departments with management support. This is in no way reflective of our CBS Interactive values. With so many affiliated brands & divisions under the CBS portfolio, we pride ourselves on the opportunities we provide our employees to get involved in varying projects and initiatives. We apologize that you did not feel like you had that type of support.
