Pros

Company culture is amazing; employees are altruistic, grounded, and inspirational.

Cons

None. Employment opportunities are limited, but this is to be expected in such a wonderful, successful company.

Pros

Laid back atmosphere with good benefits.

Cons

Awful employee development for higher positions. The culture is quickly dissolving as the people that built the company and have been dedicated to the company have to look elsewhere to progress. The saying is that the best way to get a promotion at Patagoinia is to go work for Nike and then reapply at Patagonia.

Pros

Discounts on clothing, good benefits. Ventura, CA is a great place to live.

Cons

Unfortunately everything good that you've heard about Patagonia just isn't true anymore. The company has been operating on the "good old boy" network, cliques, and nepotism for far too long. It has created a very unhealthy work environment with too many toxic employees who think they are untouchable, and unfortunately, are most of the time. Upper management has been cherry-picking and laying people off for years and it has created a feeling of "management by fear" throughout the company. You never know who will be let go next - veteran employees of 20+ years and/or newer employees that were thought to be valuable. In at least two instances, management lied on employee performance evaluations and HR and upper management looked the other way. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a place to work. Patagonia does not pay well for industry standards. Don't believe Patagonia's efforts to self-promote and their flashy marketing, because one you're in the door, you'll realize that's all you're going to get.
