Pros

Paychex is a very stable place to work and they have a great product sold and supported by people who really care about what they are doing. Salary could always be higher, but one needs to consider the local job market and general economy as well; given this salaries seem fair.

Cons

Vacation time policy is poor and quite inflexible. There is no consideration for flex/comp time unless excessive hours worked. Flexible work arrangements difficult except for those "grandfathered" in. Anyone working less that 50 hours/wk considered a slacker by those that do. Lots of rules are followed for the sole reason that "it's policy". Many are satisfied with the "status quo" and are not interested in improvement.

Pros

Excellent training, income potential, and potential for advancement. The culture at Paychex is very healthy and if you have the drive, you can succeed. The product line is very strong and works as advirtised. Potential for high income on both sales and management side if production is there.

Cons

Too much turnover on sales rep position can make the Sales Manager job difficult. Finding "right person" for the job not as easy as it seems. Sales Manager job varies greatly based on individual sales reps--- get a group group and teach them correctly and it's the best job in the world... the wrong group or good people with bad training and its no fun at all...

Pros

Good benefits; work/life balance is not good in payroll.

Cons

Base compensation is ok, but mileage and expense reimbursements are poor, which is an issue when you drive 300+ miles per week for the company. While you can "settle" that on your personal tax return, you spend a lot of personal money throughout the year that you can only get back or write off once per year on your taxes.
