Pros

- A lot of individual contributors are talented and hardworking. The peer relationships are strong. - Remote work flexibility (though leadership makes it difficult to truly unplug). - You’ll learn a lot because there’s a severe lack of resources, forcing employees to take on multiple roles without proper support.

Cons

I would not recommend working at Paylocity. The experience of many that leave can be defined by toxic leadership, a lack of accountability, and a company culture that prioritizes optics over real employee well-being. Senior leadership is reactive, plays favorites, and lacks the ability to make strategic decisions. There is a culture of micromanagement and shifting blame rather than true problem-solving. Decisions are made behind closed doors, and employees are often left scrambling when leadership changes direction without notice. The company expects employees to do more with fewer resources, leading to constant stress and no work-life balance. There is no real strategy for workforce planning. HR/TA leadership ignores expert recommendations, leading to inefficiencies, compliance risks, and a frustrating experience for employees. Paylocity claims to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion, but in reality, they only support employees who conform to their toxic, insular culture. Those who challenge the status quo, advocate for change, or come from diverse backgrounds often face resistance, exclusion, and even retaliation. Leadership plays favorites, and career growth is based on likability, not merit. The company markets itself as an inclusive employer, but the reality is very different. There is little to no real support for underrepresented employees, and any efforts towards DEI feel performative rather than meaningful. Paylocity is framing a reduction in force as “performance issues” to avoid accountability. Employees who have been dedicated and high-performing are suddenly being told they are not meeting expectations, conveniently before job cuts. This creates a culture of fear and uncertainty, with no clear guidance or fairness in the process.
