Pros

We have the best educational content and it shows in the fact that we have been constantly gaining market share in the North American Higher Educational market.

Cons

Currently going through a horrendous round of layoffs (4,000 people, a tenth of the workforce) to prop up share price. The thing is, that there doesn't seem to be any clear vision of where we are going to, so this is likely to continue every year for the foreseeable future.

Pros

Work from home opportunities were nice. Bonuses (until merging) were good now they stink. Nothing else now is a pro, it's been a miserable 2 years.

Cons

Told our jobs were safe. Laid off weeks later despite great reviews for my 6 years there. VP level and up have no idea how stuff works here. Too many chiefs.

Pros

Love building products that support education, flexible hours/schedules, very bright, dedicated people.

Cons

Jobs are vanishing from the US. People all around Pearson need to pay attention as the reorg continues, high paying jobs will stay in UK (Empire) and all others off-shored to India or SL. Moral is very low, management is saying that certain areas are 'growing' but are not forthcoming as to 'which' jobs. I am being asked to build things that will be handed off-shore. Sad to see more US jobs leaving the continent while big tax breaks are given to these Corp Giants. Managers are looking out for themselves to hold on to their jobs and "training budgets". If you work for Pearson US in any division, be prepared at all times to find other employment. Some jobs will stay, but many will go away - don't fall for the illusion. If you are in SL or India - many things to come your way. US 'open' positions may just be temporary.
