Pros

The job is very rewarding, it is very part-time leaving plenty of room for work/family balance. A great job for stay-at-home moms or dads. Working with babies, families, and nurses all day. Very independent work leaving you with a huge sense of accomplishment and pride. Base pay was $11.54 per hour with room to grow as a Coordinator.

Cons

The company asks a lot of you as a very part-time employee. Expect the HR process to take 2-3 months before you can start working. A lot of paperwork both for the company and hospital you will work at. A large list of required immunizations, vaccinations, and a physical exam. Some locations pay upfront for all medical requirements, some will reimburse you. They will start you at 20-30 hours per week while training, which is great, but once you are on your own you will only have a few hours per day and work 2-3 days per week. Inconsistent hours leading to inconsistent pay checks. Not a job to survive off of. MUST be willing to work all holidays.

Pros

This position was fun and gave me experience with babies and families. You learn a lot about how important it is to screen new-borns and the impact it could have on their lives. The pay "by the hour" wasn't bad considering how easy the job was and you mostly work by yourself. I loved the fact I didn't have anybody breathing over my shoulder. Good temporary job if you want to gain hospital and pediatric experience and you don't need to pay important bills. You also work during business hours.

Cons

No benefits. Lack of communication. At times you can have 1 to 5 locations you need to travel to in order to perform the test. Gas reimbursement is a joke. My first mileage check was given 4 months after employment only because my coordinator stayed on the company. (I only got mileage for 2 months) Even though you get paid pretty good by the hour, you only work a couple of hours because your pay is dependent on how long it takes you to screen the babies. There are days no babies are born and you get paid the minimum $20. Not many opportunities for job advancement.
