Pros

Casual employees and work environment. Floating dress down days twice a week. Some positions allow limited work from home days. Discounts on cable TV and internet. Generous paid time off and paid holidays, pension, medical, dental and vision insurance. Yearly bonus if the company does well. Holiday ham/turkey. Company sponsored food and theme park events. Tuition reimbursement (contingent on employment for one-year after graduation).

Cons

Below-market compensation for many positions. Nepotism/favoritism. Antiquated policies and software tools can add to frustration in performing the job. Redundant software and alert systems which could be consolidated. Many alerts, outages and maintenances could be automated but management refuses to innovate, reactive instead of proactive. Some tools are still in use since the 90s. Limited opportunities for advancement and training, particularly into specialized technical roles. Management quality and communication can vary significantly by department. Internal development and mentorship opportunities are inconsistent. Jump through hoops for modest raises i.e. certifications. Annual raise roughly 3% of salary. No cost of living adjustment in pay. $0.50/hour shift differential for on-call, only for actual on-call hours worked on top of salary.
