Pros

Large campus with many resources. Student, faculty, and professors have access to many technical resources and have done well researching their curriculum.

Cons

Several classes are dated and they are not always in line with the industry changes. In some cases, the classes are 15 years+ and have not been revised.

Pros

For my field of work (material science), Penn State has an excellent program with a well-known reputation. I attended several conferences and had opportunities to present my work and get feedback from students from other universities, and they all seem to agree that grad school research at Penn State is quite admirable.

Cons

The benefits given to graduate research assistants employed at Penn State are not the greatest. I am lucky to have benefits in general, but I've had so many difficulties with payments going through to the hospital from my current healthcare provider.
