Pros

Flexible start time Time consuming

Cons

On my first day I was racially profiled…I’m sitting there being trained mind you I’m the only minority in the room when the manager asks me to come with her to meet her manager. I’m new so I agree and then she walks me over and closes the door. The manager to the manager then says I’m going to have an uncomfortable conversation with you…the cash applications room smells of marijuana. I look directly at her and tell her I smelled the same thing however I do not smoke (even took a drug test prior to starting) she proclaims she’s asking me because I’m the difference in the room….i was completely taken back because difference in the room was crazy….she then tells me let’s keep this conversation between us which if you’d done nothing wrong you wouldn’t be asking me that. They have racist higher ups and it’s crazy others don’t come forward. I watched two other people leave the position while I was there and both the manager put on a party for them. I went in on a Tuesday I was visibly sick and I wanted the manager to know I was sick so I went into work runny nose and all and later asked to go home because everyone could tell I wasn’t feeling well. Two days later I was let go with no explanation. I respectfully text the manger asking if I’d done anything wrong because it was literally out of nowhere. She never responded. I feel I was racially profiled from day one. I’m glad to be relieved of the drama but I do want to shed light on my experience.

Politics and Favoritism

Pros

You get a regular paycheck, coworkers are largely talented and great people.

Cons

HR department literally ignored a report of Harassment and Retaliation by management. Management won't hesitate to throw you under the bus if it furthers their goals unless you're one of their favorites. Typical good old boys club. EXTREMELY high turnover at management level makes it impossible to advance your career. No work/life balance. Drastically underpaid compared to industry averages. Management expects hourly employees to work through lunches or breaks and ignore federal legislation.
