Pros

The product is solid. Good healthcare benefits, and some other perks, but nothing you wouldn't see at other tech companies in the Bay Area 1 day off a month, but only if you work in Alameda Lots of job opportunities for Minnesota

Cons

After being sold to PE firm the new CEO and CFO are all about making money for themselves and the PE firm. They don't care about talent it people or the product. It's all about making money. Hard working, intelligent, dedicated, knowledgable staff are being laid off and replaced by new staff in Minnesota. Moral is terrible. Only a handful of employees actually want to be there. Talent and knowledge are not rewarded. Despite how good you are at your job, If you can be replaced by someone in Minnesota you will be.

Pros

Somewhat organizationally dysfunctional at times but had an overall decent culture with a lot of kind folks. There used to be lots of opportunity for organizational improvement on multiple fronts.

Cons

The Perforce acquisition of Puppet has not gone well at all. It wouldn't be overstating to say it's been a disaster. Perforce leadership clearly doesn't know what to do with the new DevOps toy they just bought and the Perforce management & leadership style is extremely opaque in terms of communication with employees. This is no longer a company that treats human beings with a basic amount of respect. Avoid at all costs.

Pros

What's left of the people who were there before The Great Buyout

Cons

This was once a great place to work. Those days are over. There is such a great job market in Bay Area tech full of companies that are adding benefits instead taking them away, why would you want to work here? Benefits have steadily diminished over the last year with the new management, layoffs continue in secret after mgmt promised to be transparent (meaning the only way you'll find out is whispers in the hall or if the latest laid off employee tells you), morale is in the toilet with no sign of recovering, those who are left and care about workplace happiness are shopping elsewhere for a new job. Sad but true. On top of all that, it's likely they'll shut down the Alameda office and move everything to Minnesota so why bother?
