Within my first two years at this company, I was offered a promotion into the leadership team as an associate lead. Following a change of leadership, I was again offered a promotion into the Merchandise and Inventory Leader position (which I unfortunately had to turn down due to school time constraints). There is room for growth and expansion in your experience with PetSmart, they encourage building new responsibilities and development of your character.

Cons

Retail. Sales is difficult, the customer base can be difficult. The company cannot be blamed for this, its simply the con of a retail placement.

If you're lucky and get a good CEL (department manager) you may be able to promote and execute poper pet care

Cons

Store leads bonus is tied to animal sales, so the more customers that are upset you denied sale of an animal due to improper care the less money your manager will make. I experienced my manager selling her back yard bred dogs out of the store for $2000 each and management covered it up since she sold him a dog too. Super shady, money hungry, and will force you to abuse animals. Great lip service by the PR team and material, but very little is genuine or practiced.
