Very decent place to work at.

Pros

The management and the work force are in a very decent agreement and have a healthy relationship. I for one loved all my 12 years there. A lot of support, not without minor miniscule drama, but that's expected everywhere. Overall 5 star!

Cons

You can spend a lot of time there, cause the feeling of ownership is very strong. Find your own balance.

Pros

Share programme is good (2:1). Compensation package overall is good, but if you compare it to the work that you are required to carry out then I dare say we are underpaid in comparison to the rest of the Humber bank. Shift pattern, on paper, is a good one for time off.

Cons

A real lack of proper leadership, very poor management of people and next to no progression available (this does depend on the area you are sent to when you start) Forced overtime during shutdowns and the appraisal system is not fit for purpose. The appraisal system is, instead, used as a tool to beat you with rather than to help you become a better operator/employee for the company. Call out system does not compensate you properly for the time you set aside in case you get called out. The site is not unionised therefore the management here can essentially add new rules/new workloads unchecked and usually to the detriment of the staff. No extra courses/certification for advancement of your professional career. Phillips 66 (Humber) has an extremely poor mentality. The management really let the ‘power’ get to their head and often abuse their positions to implement personal vendettas, it’s a breeding ground for spiteful behaviour and makes for a toxic work environment. I can only liken it to an abusive relationship in which most workers end up with Stockholm syndrome. Phillips 66 beats all hope and optimism out of you. It’s such a shame for a company that has all the potential in the world.
