Pros

The greatest thing, for me, about being a Pinkerton is you have the autonomy to make decisions. I am always learning and helping others to learn. While this is a "bad news business" (no one calls you when life is good), its great to show up someplace and see the look of relief on their face. Everyday brings a new challenge and it is up to you to find the right solution. The industry is always changing and so are we!

Cons

Some may find it difficult to work as a Pinkerton, as you are expected to be self sustained and self driven. I find so often many people are more comfortable, when the decisions which have to be made on a daily bases as a Director, are made by someone else.

Great Career Experiences But Don't Look After Their Own.

Pros

Pinkerton is a reputed organization and delivers great service to their clients. The work is truly diverse and anyone wanting to obtain vast experience across the services offered in the security industry, Pinkerton is the company to work for.

Cons

Ultimately Management do not look after their own staff. Pay is below market average, there are no performance reviews and no solid structure for career progress. In the case of promotion Management are only interested in how cheap they can get the new person to fill the position. It leaves a bad taste and many employees do not feel valued. Operational staff have very restricted decision making powers, Many decisions have to go all the way to the top of the hierarchy. This often results in either no decision or a very slow decision being made. This is very frustrating and paints the picture that staff on the ground are not trusted.
