Pros

You get employee discount for Pixio products.

Cons

Limited growth opportunities and a lack of organization within the company. The final straw for me was being required to come into the office during the large LA wildfires, which felt unsafe and poorly managed.

High Turnover and Lack of Strategic Direction

Pros

I did have the opportunity to work with some talented and genuinely kind colleagues during my time there.

Cons

Working at Pixio was a confusing experience from the start. I was hired for a marketing role, but on my first day I learned that leadership had no plans to allocate a budget for the department I was hired to support. It immediately raised the question of what the strategic goal for the role actually was. This lack of clear direction seemed to reflect a broader issue within the company’s leadership and operations. In less than six months, the entire team I was originally hired to work with either left the company or was let go. From conversations internally, it became clear that this level of turnover was not unusual. For a small organization, that kind of instability has a real impact on morale and continuity. Pixio’s business model is primarily centered around selling monitors through Amazon. While there are stated ambitions to grow direct-to-consumer sales through the company’s own website, there does not appear to be sufficient investment in marketing or infrastructure to meaningfully shift the strategy in that direction. Internal bottlenecks also make it difficult to execute initiatives quickly, which further limits progress. As is common with smaller companies, there is no meaningful HR structure in place. As a result, workplace dynamics at Pixio feel influenced more by internal relationships than by consistent policy. The PTO policy is also below the standards of many comparable companies. For example, employees were required to work a mandatory half day in the office on Christmas Eve during a storm that had active flood warnings, which was difficult to understand for an office-based role. But ultimately this anecdote is illustrative of the company’s lack of consideration for their staff.

Pros

None. By far the worst workplace.

Cons

Prospective employees should approach with caution. Compensation and benefits are significantly below market, and flexibility is essentially nonexistent. Taking time off is strongly discouraged, and there are no meaningful holiday breaks, which contributes to an unsustainable work-life balance. Turnover is extremely high. Employees are constantly leaving or being let go, creating a revolving-door environment that makes it difficult to build stability within teams. The workplace culture itself is highly toxic. Efforts to improve processes or address problems are not welcomed—employees who try to make positive changes often find themselves isolated or pushed out rather than supported. The physical office environment is also concerning. The workspace is poorly maintained, including old carpeting that appears moldy, yet management has not taken meaningful steps to address these issues despite concerns being raised. Many employees seemed to remain primarily out of necessity rather than genuine satisfaction with the workplace. Overall, this company would benefit greatly from improving its culture, compensation structure, and working conditions.
