Pros

Polsinelli advertises itself as a fun, work-life balance firm, and a few years ago it was. The billable requirement is 1900 compared to most big firms' 2000, which is nice. The attorneys are mostly nice and fun people to work with, and the work is challenging.

Cons

As the firm has grown exponentially, it has struggled to maintain its culture when it is increasingly focused on ever more billable hours and the bottom line. It is cheap with bonuses when associates work extremely hard, and its Kansas City headquarters does not seem to realize that they need to pay more in order to remain competitive in cities like Chicago and New York. Support staff is sub-par because they do not pay well enough to get the best talent. Training also needs major work, for both new attorneys and support staff, especially paralegals.
