Pros

Good benefits, reasonable salary, lots of "office swag" (If you care about this). Good starting position for those who are recent graduates. Office is new age with amenities and snacks. Opportunity to learn PL/SQL and Oracle databases.

Cons

The company has bad management and bad HR. Management is not objective towards employees and training is minimal/horrible. Management lies about actual company performance, expansion to other markets, and new technology. Transparency is preached but not followed... basically a marketing scam to employees to keep employees interested and on board. No ability to grow outside of the dinosaur utility industry. No one is interested in a PowerBuilder based software application besides a slow moving, highly regulated industry.

Pros

Nice office and free lunch once a week

Cons

Look elsewhere. Due to incompetent leadership you will be set up for failure and then blamed if things go wrong throughout the project. Expectations are extremely unclear and you’re expected to teach/train yourselves on an industry/product that is already niche. You’re instructed to reach out for help but when you do you’re either ignored or made to feel incompetent for needing direction (even on your first project might I add) The leads on many of the projects are unhelpful and so condescending that it’s almost laughable - and you’re expected to learn from some of these people. A realistic and measurable knowledge transfer process is nonexistent in this department. There are other organizations out there that will nurture your desire to learn, grow, and be successful. This isn’t the place for that. The mentality here is “sink or swim” despite the technology being abysmally outdated and the compensation being lower than market value. You can expect to feel overwhelmed, unfulfilled, and undervalued in this position. There are lots of politics at play here. Their goal is to keep the subject matter experts egos stroked while accommodating them in every way. Working here is not worth the effects on your mental wellbeing…or pockets might I add.

Pros

PTO is good. That’s it.

Cons

Hostile co-workers with large egos (mostly because they went to GA Tech and think they’re gods gift to...wait for it....Accounting). Terrible, extremely emotional management that will throw their workers under the bus to mask their lack of leadership or knowledge of how to build a 21st century product. Peers who “collaborate” by dictation and also will sell their own mother out of it covers them from trouble. Zero room to grow or learn new skills. If you’re a millennial who has never heard the word “no” from your parents, then this is the place where your bad upbringing can be further enabled!
