Pros

Initially, I was excited about working for GRS; they had exceeded my salary requirements when offered the position and I was going to be closer to home to save money on gas.

After starting my new job, I was disappointed to say the least. Despite the fact that traveling was not in the job description (or for that matter, communicated in the hiring process), I found myself spending the majority of my time driving between multiple communities (none of which was my "home" site) to cover patient's on caseload, covering at least 50-75 miles each day. Many of which, didn't even have suitable staffing for the growing caseload at each community. Productivity requirements were absolutely unattainable, mostly due to the sheer amount of job duties, including (but not limited to): marketing, caseload growth/development, medical record intake for each new patient, documenting services rendered, auditing & tracking of all disciplines notes, organizing notes chronologically & mailing to Tampa. All of these responsibilities made it impossible for me to actually devote the time and effort to the patients. The working space was very small and made my job all the more difficult. After sticking with it for a year, my coworkers and I were extremely disappointed to find out that all merit raises were frozen for all employees. Managers are focused on being profitable, regardless of the barriers that the therapists faced each day. If you are a therapist who truly cares for the patients, DO NOT WORK FOR GRS. This company will suck all of your enthusiasm out of your job.

Competitive salaries. Continueing education resources.

Although the salary was competive, there was not a realistic caseload to support it in a rural area. Someone from upper management was hear saying "If we supply the therapist, a caseload will appear". Therefore focus was placed on "program development" aka recycling long term care patients in a nursing home through therapy even when they did not have a functional change to warrant therapy. When the rehab team ceased picking up inappropriate patients to stop this unethical practice, therapists from other buildings that had received "special training" in how to screen patients were sent to show us "how to recognize function change" in patients that we had treated previously and that we had contact with everyday to see that functional change. Although there was continueing education resources, they essentially centered around how to build a caseload and how to make your documentation "audit proof" (of course while keeping up with your productivity standards). Focus is on productivity (aka profitability) as it is with every rehab company in this nation. What would happen if therapists whose main focus is patient "care" formed "care" teams in geographical areas and treated patients with care and respect. We would not need to be so "productive" aka "profitable" if we were not supporting layers of middle and upper management. Oh...and did I mention you do notes on a device that the patients perceive as a cell phone while you are treating them? Patients perceived this as not getting the attention they deserved as well as rude.

They have a big budget and supplied their newly purchased businesses with new therapy equipment and top of the line therapy equipment and supplies.

Cons

Get those minutes!! Expecting management to do too much and be unavailable to do their job correctly. Expecting therapists to be at an ultr high productivity level , not properly training staff with technology. Paperwork differences, and timely before hand notification of changes, meetings, expectations, placing poor quality managers in positions they are not skilled enough in to benefit the business and team,
