Long, Slow Downward Spiral

Pros

Smart, hard working, committed, and fun co-workers, some of who are sticking it out and driving the mission forward despite the current company issues.

Cons

Lack of solid executive leadership and decision making for the long haul. Kept a staggering pace of shipping sub-par product that never showed a direct line to revenue. Irresponsible IPO talk for many years. Multiple rounds of layoffs and office closures over the last 3 years. "Be scrappy" should have been dropped from company values long ago. Questionable core business model of repackaging patient data and selling it. Salaries are well below market rates.

Started great, culture changed and went downhill quickly.

Pros

- Everyone is excited about what they are doing professionally. There is clearly a space in the market for their product.

Cons

- For a long time, the company was run like they were going to be the next big IPO. This led to a lot of problems when that illusion was shattered. - The needs of the customer are given very little consideration when features are designed and implemented. - A lot of talented people have left due to little opportunity for career growth. - Pay is low across the board compared to other tech companies.

The best of times, the worst of times

Pros

* Cool, intelligent people (as all reviews agree) * Good pay (some in the company have lower salaries (w/ stock options), but now that the company is more established and funded I suspect pay has gone up to attract new people) * Free yoga and meditation classes * New building (Zenga building) has lots of amenities and fun games in the lobby * Non-evil mission * Free good booze * Diversified revenue channels make a compelling business case * Provide decent equity and IPO will probably happen

Cons

* As recent reviews reflect, morale is pretty low in some quarters (though high in others)...good people are leaving, which makes the remaining good people question.. * Long hours and high stress for many people, especially devs and customer service. This has been justified as a response to big, existential threats to the company, but after seeing a few pushes and the resultant burnout, it doesn't seem justified. * Misison is good, but overstated. A lot is made of how we’re revolutionizing healthcare, saving lives, etc. While it’s true the product is on the whole good, and the company is doing some good and innovative things, it is still a capitalist enterprise with the main mission of making money and hitting the IPO. This makes the day to day reality not live up to the often quoted mission statement.
