Pratt Protects Bullies

Pros

Benefits were excellent. Generous PTO, great 401k contribution.

Cons

Leadership doesn't care about the development of its people unless they've been targeted as an up and coming leader. Commercial Engines loves to promote diversity and then shoot down diverse qualified candidates in favor of buddies they've known forever. Two words: boys club. HR will 100% protect the bullies and won't actually get involved if you're being bullied by your supervisor. Turnover is very high. If you stay in one position long enough, you will end up training different managers to run your group. It's very hard to get fired from Pratt. Unless you're a victim of bullying then you'll be gone in a flash. (To be clear, I resigned, I was not "let go"). If you are a woman or a POC, expect to be treated terribly. Expect a LOT of racism and sexism. Be ready for HR to gaslight you and tell you it's just you while trying to make your case go away. Expect managers to not get involved when they witness micro aggressions. Pratt uses an anonymous survey through a 3rd party company. The survey used to go out 4 times a year but due to management complaining about the frequency, they cut it down to 3 times a year. BUT DON'T WORRY because this is "your chance to be heard!" that they just cut.

Pros

-Pay -remote work available now (only after covid)

Cons

-bad benefits -lack of training -no transfer of experience from people about to retire -blame culture -meetings scheduled outside of core working hours -company communication and nagging when on vacation and even on parental leave (rude) -company fosters a lazy mentality so the 80/20 rule applied here (20% do 80% of the work)

Pros

Great people and opportunities to build technical skills.

Cons

Constant interruption of personal time, especially post COVID and working from home. Expectation for engineering to consistently work evenings and weekends. Missed numerous family events, milestones, funerals and vacations due to Pratt. Same expectations not consistent across other organizations so you might get lucky.
