Great people

Pros

Some very talented people who make you feel at home the moment you walk in the door. The heads of creative, strategy, account, and medical are super smart people who never fail to bring great ideas to the table no matter how busy they get. Can't say enough good things about them, made it a pleasure to work here.

Cons

Some people have questionable opinions or experience. This unfortunately makes some projects tough to work on because every conversation turns into a long drawn out battle of wills.

OK for most. Copy people, stay away from NJ.

Pros

PFV has good compensation and benefits and tries to provide perks (e.g., weekly lunches) to keep employees happy. Most departments have room for growth. Employees are talented, and the company is healthy financially. Locked-down processes allow for efficient workflow.

Cons

Like other agencies, work/life balance can be almost non-existent at times (although senior management tries to recognize hard work). At least everyone works hard, so you're all in it together. Unfortunately for me, the current leadership in med/copy in NJ does not respect people without medical degrees, leaving the copy people (who have been contributing members of the company for years) without room for growth after a certain point or appreciation for work done well. Until this gets fixed, copy/medical writers shouldn't bother trying to obtain positions in NJ unless they are very junior, don't care about career growth, or aren't planning to stay for more than a couple of years.

Growing consulting group

Pros

A lot of opportunity for career growth while working on interesting and different types of projects. Working with some smart people and can leverage other groups such as the agency and the health economics team.

Cons

Not many, still a growing consulting group trying to find their identity
