Many competitors offering business partner roles operate on a hybrid working model. In comparison, there is currently no flexibility within our organisation, and we are required to work in store five days a week. In many cases, this isn’t necessary, as a significant amount of time is spent attending Microsoft Teams meetings while in store, reducing the time available for effective business partnering and supporting operational teams.
While I have not personally experienced inappropriate behaviour, I have heard concerns from colleagues regarding instances of bullying by members of the senior P&C leadership team. In addition, P&C teams across the business operate in different ways, with little consistency in processes or expectations. This can lead to perceptions of unfairness and an inconsistent experience for both colleagues and stakeholders.
There is also a lack of transparency around salaries. Employees are discouraged from discussing pay with their peers, despite individuals performing the same role receiving significantly different levels of remuneration. Greater transparency and a clearer approach to pay would help build trust and reinforce a sense of fairness across the organisation.
