Pros

Good pay and good brand name on your resume.

Cons

A toxic bureaucratic work culture that hoards the best opportunities and treatment for a select few. The administrations does nothing to promote equitable pedagogical strategies (they say they do though) - but, the institution doesn't embrace instructional designers as a valuable resource to promote better teaching and enhance student experiences.

Pros

Phenomenal place to work. Great work/life balance, unbelievable benefits, most folks are happy to be here.

Cons

People don't leave, so it's hard to move up. I've been here 7 years, i'm still the new guy in my department. Some of the administrative departments function more like a corporate setting, rather than a college. The academic departments are the place to be.

Pros

Amazing health benefits, tuition re-imbursement, vacation/time off is great, really good and above average family leave policy, some positions have a good work-life balance.

Cons

Some positions do not have a good work-life balance, some offices discourage promotion from within, some positions may not be able to take advantage of the tuition benefits as some positions will not allow enough time to study while working. Be sure to ask about work-life balance and beware of quick turn-around in some offices.
