Overworked, underpaid

Pros

some of the lower level management is okay.

Cons

Everyone is over worked and underpaid. Shareholder profit is the most important thing to the executive team, above both the employees and the insureds.

Stale Company

Pros

Insurance is a relatively stable industry to work in.

Cons

ProAssurance is really committed to doing things the way they've always been done. It seems like change is not something this company seeks out or cares for. The company strongly resisted allowing employees to continue to work remotely even though they had done so all throughout the pandemic and management admitted the work was getting done with no issues. The organizational structure is totally disorganized, and it was never clear who owned certain tasks. Management showed very little interest in new employees and there was almost no personal interaction. The motto is "treated fairly" but that doesn't seem to apply to employees--new employees are definitely treated differently than old-timers. And if diversity is important to you, look elsewhere. ProAssurance is not a modern company and would probably not be a good fit for a forward-thinking person.

Treated [like a Pawn in Executive Management's Game]

Pros

Start off with 20 days PTO and get +5 every 5 years. Discounted health insurance. Bi-weekly pay.

Cons

No career or personal advancement. Constantly expected to work overtime (many skip lunch to meet deadlines). Under-average pay. Will add to your job description, but won't add to your salary. Heavily micro-managed. Casual misogyny and racism. Office politics in the form of lying to make management appear efficient and the direct reports are to "blame". Fake positive Glassdoor reviews instead of addressing their issues. Everything you do is blatantly in favor of the executives' paychecks. Not "treated fairly" (ex. why does the only female executive make 30% less than her lowest paid male counterpart?). If you are a prospective applicant reading this, look elsewhere unless you really need a steady income, but if you're looking for a steady income, you will get taken advantage of. If you are looking to further your career, 3,738,428% stay away.
