Pros

- Fully Remote Work, we have developers working remotely all over the country and the company is fully committed to remote and hybrid work - Great Work-Life balance, I never work over 40 hours a week. The workload is very manageable and you get plenty of time off for vacations or if you need a day to rest. Management is very flexible if you need to leave for an appointment. - Amazing people, I’ve been really impressed with the people at Progressive, everyone is very friendly and willing to help. It feels like people care that you are there and want to help you succeed (coworkers and managers both). It really is remarkable to see how strong the culture is here at Progressive even with a remote work/hybrid work arrangement. - Good Tech to work in, Most development is Angular and .NET, there’s also Amazon AWS development with Terraform. Seems like a pretty modern tech stack that a lot of other companies use. Overall a good tech stack to work with. - Opportunities to Travel, the business gives you the ability to travel to corporate events and summits, both internally to the company and even to external events (so long as there’s business value). It’s optional to participate but super cool to be able to travel across the country (all expenses paid!) - Good salaries (in my opinion at least), we get paid a base salary and profit share. They recently did a market adjustment and most Software Devs make over $100K for their base pay. Profit sharing can payout from $10,000 - $30,000 depending on your salary and job level. Raises tend to be around 3-5% yearly, but lately software devs have seen bigger increases with market adjustments. - Lots of focus time for development, we get a ton of time in the week for our dev tasks, typically we have at least one meeting a day but often times that one meeting will be all you will have. There are optional meetings to attend throughout the day and required meeting can often be cancelled if it’s deemed unnecessary. Many people prefer to communicate asynchronously using Teams or doing recorded presentations. Doesn’t seem like there’s a crazy huge meeting culture here which is a plus.

Cons

- Work laptops could be better, I think a lot of development teams work off Windows machines. Totally a personal preference but wish we could use Macs instead. - Wish we got paid Stock Grants like other tech companies pay to their software developers. - Absolutely hate how restrictive Security is with downloading software on our Laptops. Have to submit a request for anything that isn’t provided in Software Center. Sucks since I like to explore new dev tools and I can’t download them without approval.
