Pros

If you land on a good team they will become an extended family.

Cons

that happens. There are back to back unrealistic or conflicting deadlines. When you approach deadlines, leadership "FORCES" you to take shortcuts and generally make the wrong technical approach; when that fails, senior leadership will tell you that they don't trust you and need to micro-mange you with daily updates. The leadership administration does not value its people. They have told entire teams that they bring no value. When you ask for something in return, like converting to remote (pre-COVID), or more people to be hired to aid in managing their overbearing amount of work that they throw at you, they will tell you, no. They would watch you leave before that happens. Their technology infrastructure is monolithic, outdated, tightly coupled, and very fragile. The tech environments break daily for various reasons, and their deployment process is an overly complicated process with significant bottlenecks. The company is very slow to change (technology-wise). If the change doesn't show instant "financial-value" in a month to two, it's not worth implementing.

Pros

Technology folk look at different opportunities for various reasons; salary, growth, more challenging work, and of course, a bodacious PC with big glass! Regardless of the initial reason for starting a job search, most of us end up taking a hard look at the company culture at both our current workplace and, more importantly, at the workplace, we may end up. After all, we spend a massive amount of our lives, energy, and emotions in our careers. It's crucial to have a safe place to work in today's world, leadership who is invested in their employees and actively works to grow and improve their product and the technology behind it. Today most companies 'get' this fact - the culture and work environment is key to their success. Progressive has always been one of those companies.

Cons

Occasionally though, out of desperation or short-sightedness, the company forgets about the people who help make them successful. Hopefully, this 'forgetfulness' is merely a blip on the radar, and the course is quickly corrected. Occasionally though, leadership reaches outside of this trust-pool and brings in a 'consultant' to help facilitate a perceived need. It is easy to be fooled by the glamour cast by consultants, forgetting that those consultants have no real 'investment' in the long game. Unfortunately, Progressive Leasing has turned from a company that puts its employees above all else to a company looking for some magic pill to solve outside pressures. Out of desperation, they have turned a consultant hired to help with technological growth into an acting vice president. Unfortunately, this consultant seems to be destroying the culture that has been nurtured for 20 years by the founder and the executive team.
