Pros

There are a few really hardworking and fair employees here. The company started out to help those in need

Cons

I am unsure if I can communicate just how horrible of a place Progressive is. At the core of this company there is blatant racism, sexism, and far more words than I want to mention. The company once thrived because of the great executive leaders. During that time, they cared about the employees and did all they could to ensure customers were taken care of. Today, Progressive has a bunch of people in leadership who care for themselves and their friends only. There are Senior Sales Directors who hide behind a smile when behind closed doors they are horrible people. Most of the leaders are in place because their buddies promoted them . There is actually someone here who received multiple promotions after every account he touched failed! That seems to be a general theme here. Earlier in the year you saw promotion after promotion on Linkedin and then a couple month later, massive layoff. Exactly how do you reward so much failure at a company? Then you layoff these people and blame your retail partners who haven't had to lay anyone off by the way. Also, they assured the employees Prog was doing well literally weeks before and would have no change in the company. That was a lie. Not to mention the threats to those laid off. You can't say anything negative or we will change the pay of your final check, Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. They'll be falling apart soon I am sure. No one desires to pay 2-3x the price of merchandise no matter their credit situation. I should mention the fact that a newer Sr manager here likes to make inappropriate comments to his female employees. Not sure how you keep these types of people on after laying off a bunch of hardworking and tenured people. That's called putting the business before your people.

Pros

Before company leadership changed you made your own schedule, worked independently in the field, had full control of your admin day, I think 7 paid holidays, gift incentives quarterly, GREAT INSURANCE, an off-site and full company conference - your family could attend and have a mini vacation

Cons

No company car so your personal vehicle depreciates quickly because of the miles you travel - get ready for a monthly oil change, they allow managers to run their teams how they want and most are micromanagers who will have you stressing until you get sick, end up in tears or both, the company is Mormon owned so good luck getting promoted if you’re not Caucasian, they tap Black and minority people on the shoulder to do interviews for promotions just to check off the diversity box knowing there were no plans to fairly consider the person, Caucasians can say racist and sexist things with no consequences, they’ll open a BS investigation and literally do nothing, the handbook only applies to certain employees because there is a strong buddy system, they will pay a new hire a higher salary before they give a loyal employee a raise, if you’ve been with the company a while you will be underpaid and receive a million excuses as to why you are, this is just me scratching the surface. Save yourself the headache and keep looking!

Pros

Salary is competitive. The product gives people with poor credit scores options. Gives retailers a product offering for customers with poor credit.

Cons

Some retail prospects feel Progressive’s product is predatory, but that should be left up to the customer. Many employees are Mormon and the culture seems much like the religion. It can be uncomfortable for some non-religious people.
