      Promega is a leading edge company in life sciences with a wonderful campus and environment to work.

      Pros

      This company has plenty of great and interesting people from a broad spectrum - scientists to home beer brewers. Many midwesterners with a good sprinkling of people from around the world. Their flagship headquarters building is unique and the company cafeteria was far better than many restaurants I've experienced.

      Cons

      In a competitive world and crowded job market, you'll need to be amongst the very best and well educated. There is good training, but as with many larger organizations, you should be pretty self sufficient.

      Pros

      Good at family friendly company. New buidings with good facilities including gyms and fitness classes run at lunchtimes (should you have time to go!).

      Cons

      Very poor communication. Lack of direction - company has good products but seems to have little idea as to what it wants to do in the future. Lot of dead wood here.

      Pros

      Lots of good people work there. Madison has good schools. There are good workout facilities in every building and flexibility in work schedules.

      Cons

      People are not promoted based on ability but on who they buddy up to so the company has some managers who have been promoted far beyond their abilities. Decisions are rarely based on what makes good business sense but are based on the pet project(s) of the day. Some departments are so short-staffed that it is hard to get anything done. There is a lot of politics at this company. Everyone is afraid that someone else will go to the CEO so no-one will take responsibility and make decisions.
