It's good for your first year out of college

Pros

Work/life balance, first year starting pay (but NOT raises!), laid-back peeps, friendly culture.

Cons

basically just an audit firm. work is very routine and mind-numbing after your first few projects. This is not really a consulting firm as much as it is an outsourced internal audit and finance/accounting service firm.

Pros

The work-life balance that I receive at Protiviti is really important to me. 40 to 50 hour weeks working with great people is definitely better than most situations. The culture of Protiviti is very inviting with a lot of opportunities to give back to the community at large as well as to become a more close knit community within the company.

Cons

The benefits received are minimal, but better than nothing. The compensation is definitely below market; their retort to this is that work-life balance and a great culture are offered.

Opportunities for upward career growth is there, just need to watch out for the pitfalls of things you will never learn during formal training that they provide.

Cons

Much of the learning is trial and error since some management don't know themselves. Training they provide is formal but doesn't give info of the nuances that can cause you the crash and burn.
