Pros

Younger consultants are very motivated, energetic and qualified.

Cons

Andersen "back benchers" run the company. Mostly "B" and "C" players from the Andersen days are in key leadership roles. These people are clearly not fit to lead. Their goal is mainly to make up for being snubbed when Andersen imploded some 6 years ago. As the saying goes - "The ablest swimmers leave the sinking ship first". Nothing left but poster children for the Peter Principle. Had it not been for SOX, Protiviti would be just another generic consulting company with no real deep skills. It's like amateur hour with a broken clock. What's most amusing is that the management team thinks they are All-stars and industry "thought leaders." Yet after 6 years of existence, no one outside of maybe Chicago and NYC has ever even heard of Protiviti. Absolutely no business development capabilities. Every opportunity is met with an "over-engineered" approach to solving a clients challenge.

Pros

As everyone else mentions, the people are a lot of fun to be around and everyone (it seems) goes out f their way to invite you to lunch of the bars after work. No one talked smack behind someone's back and the office environment never tried to ostracize anyone. When it comes to taking time off, the schedulers are very willing to accept and I never experienced any push back from taking a random day in the week off or a few weeks.

Cons

If you aren't scheduled on a client, you literally sit in your chair all day and do nothing. When someone asks you to do something, it is 90% of the time a menial task which is one that person shouldv'e completed themselves. If you want a job that you always know what your schedule will look like, this kinda work is not for you.

Pros

Opportunity for advancement, good place to start a career. They have good training programs, but not great. Their system for knowledge sharing works pretty well, and the caliber of the majority of the staff is top notch, definitely learn a lot from them with regard to the industry and how to go about engaging clientele.

Cons

Not all management are qualified to be management level. There should be more time put towards training programs to get staff more knowledgeable in the different fields of their interest, instead of just being assigned the same type of projects (unless that's the staff's preference). Shadowing doesn't really take place as much as it should.
