Pros

Given Protiviti's size, employees have a unique opportunity to participate in various capacities (e.g., methodology development, business development, project management, internal initiatives, training). Additionally, you will interact with some very good managers who respect their staff. Lastly, Protiviti does not burn-out their employees (although that may change with the cost-cutting measures taking place and the work starts to pile on the remaining employees).

Cons

Senior management and legacy employees tends to keep chargeable hours and relationships for themselves. This hurts junior managers and makes them expendable. Additionally, if you do not have a niche or speciality that supports what sells in the market at the time, you are vunerable. You may get piegeon-holed quickly, so make sure you identify a niche early on and pursue it aggresively.

Pros

Protiviti was an excellent place for me to start my career. They were very helpful with job transfers between offices, and I had many opportunities to work in different industries and with different job functions. There were a large number of opportunities for fast advancement and they provided a decent budget for training, certifications, and knowledge development.

Cons

Watch your back. They will cut jobs, seemingly at random and with little consideration for experience level and seniority at the company. There is very low job security. While there is a wide array of industries and types of work, there is a very low salary compensation and appreciation of your work. Bonuses are few and far between. Employees are worked long and hard, and projects are poorly managed, in that they often include insufficient personnel to staff engagements.

Pros

The people are great to work with and the schedule is always flexible for time off.

Cons

Politics. Benefits. Culture leaning towards "Big 4." Incompetent Senior Management. Unprofessional layoff process. Decisions to layoff resources that the Company has invested in, while continuing to hire new resources to maintain a positive brand image to colleges / universities nationwide.
