Business Outlook
Pros
Decent pay, some colleagues who are team-oriented, assigned break-relief nurses with pre-set schedules for taking breaks, close-in location with ample parking
Cons
Nursing supervisors are very detached from the day-to-day flow on the unit, they do their rounds and essentially socialize with the charge nurse, ignoring all else, and do not advocate or support safe staffing needs; managers are there as a bridge between the nursing staff and the administrators, enforcing the bottom line; cliques are rampant at this hospital, if you're not one of the chosen ones your life on the unit will be all that more difficult (sometimes impossible).
