      Graduate Assistants at Purdue are paid well, but staff fees take a bite out of that salary.

      Pros

      Purdue has a decent reputation and good pay for their graduate assistants. The benefits, once deciphered, are not bad either.

      Cons

      Staff fees for each semester are a significant portion of graduate salaries. All healthcare is required to be first sought at the purdue student health center, but the quality of care there is generally sub par. If you have an accident after hours, the insurance company puts the burden on you to prove that you are not covered by other insurance and to provide details of the accident. This significantly delays the payment process.

      It's a good job if your spouse is going to graduate school at Purdue.

      Pros

      Purdue is a great place if you a mother and have children.

      Cons

      The culture is not the best, at least within the administrative side. It is very difficult to go above-and-beyond the call of duty. Some employees do not want to really work. People just want to get the job done and go home. They don't really take pride in their work.

      Close to my home. Take classes on lunch break.

      Cons

      Low pay and recognition. Non flexibility of supervisors. Expect you to do the job of three people with no understanding or knowledge about what your staff is doing. It is about who you know, not what you know.
