Concerned About Company Direction

Pros

10 paid holidays, lower health care costs (if you don't have to use the medical), they have telemedicine available - free to health plan subscribers, some sites have fitness centers, daycare and onsite medical.

Cons

Some of the concerns I have: there seems to be a disconnect between influential leaders at the top, and people who actually work in the Divisions. Leaders at Sussex, WI (Corporate headquarters) lead the company - following the company's Core Values, however this doesn't translate out to the other divisions across the country. We consistently hear about "Economic Headwinds", which translates to plant closures, layoffs and doing more with less. While focusing on metrics are key to any company's growth, at times there is more focus on the expectation of meeting numbers rather than understanding why we didn't get there. Quad has always had a mindset that they have lower pay, but make up for it with benefits and culture. They were the top company to work for many years. This has changed as the economy has changed. Quad still pays lower, and expects you to be okay with it, or they will just hire someone else. (This may not be the attitude Executives portray, but their leadership does.) The cost of benefits continue to increase, as with most companies. Most recently, there have been drastic benefit changes in order to stay ahead of the competition in cost reduction.

Sadly Disappointed

Pros

Having been with the company for over 20 years, it's hard to find the positive. There are good people in the company. Less and less though. The company has provided a good income over the years. Lots of overtime from July to December. No seasonal layoff.

Cons

All benefits have been eroded to nothing. Health, Dental and Vision is available. $50 towards shoes every other year. Fitness center (in some locations). 1/2 uniform rental paid by employer. Short term disability paid by employer, long tem by employee. 9 holidays per year and vacation after 1yr. (80 hrs) Long time employees are first to go when time get tough. Temps are starting to out number employees on the floor.

Pros

I had some wonderful co-workers

Cons

Just about everything is terrible. The pay is minimal, the work load is unbearable. The stress is constant. The company keeps making cutbacks: no longer matching 401k's, eliminated the family Christmas party, no more tuition reimbursement, wage-freeze just put into effect for the next 2 years. It's almost comical how bad it has become.
