Pros

The benefits are excellent, positions tend to be flexible, job growth is not forgotten, pay is good, plenty of non-work events, easy to get equipment, stable job (for the most part). Overall, great working environment.

Cons

Qualcomm chipsets power a huge range of devices in the worldwide market. In order to stay competitive, the pipeline is always filled to the brim. This means that there's very little time for good software practices and much of the effort, at least from a SW perspective, is spent porting and patching. This gets tiresome after a while and doesn't provide for much satisfaction with one's job as actual innovation often needs to take a backseat. In addition, because there are so many engineers involved, getting things done is often difficult because there's always some team you'll need to get support from in order to get the job done, no matter how simple the task. The overhead is exhausting.

Pros

Cash compensation is very good relative to other companies. Business is growing rapidly since the company is in a relatively good market. As of this writing, company was acquired by a much larger, very profitable company which would likely ensure job security. Company really does an excellent job making it a very family-friendly place to work - the work life balance is second-to-none.

Cons

Lots of middle management and politics - the company promotes a lot of its early employees, which in principle is a great idea. There are often more directors and senior directors on a team than actually rank and file employees! However, the rapid growth of the business shortcuts a lot of the professional development that these managers needed to successfully manage the products and growth to be scalable in years to come. As such, a lot of projects are done without proper planning and a lot of inefficiencies are present. New management teams have been brought in from the outside only to be rendered powerless by existing management.

Pros

work/life balance, "laid back" environment (think "san diego") benefits pay is good, not great

Cons

promoting from within is a lie some groups are great, others are horrible - growth & opportunity depends highly on how well you get along with your supervisor (or how well you can market yourself) - there's too much "favoritism" and not as much real performance based ranking/evaluations/promotions
