Pros

- HQ is located in a good City. - Modem R&D Technology hub - 401k matching is the only benefit left. - Best Medical Plan (gone from 2016) - Competitive Cell Phone Market Observation: Glassdoor has listed conflicting pros and cons for Qualcomm: pros 'good work life balance' and con 'bad work life balance'. It could be due to fake reviews from Qualcomm officials who are desperate to cover up. Speak to an actual employee working at Qualcomm before accepting an offer. Also each team is different.

Cons

- Steve, Paul and entire Management team has poor vision. They don't know they are not up to mark. They cannot visualize the future of technology. They are OUT of ideas and so now they have resorted to copying. - As the company looses market, they are cutting costs everywhere and punishing employees. - Due to a Poor Brand Image and lack of vision the products in a few years are going to suck more. - The cream (best of the best engineer/other staff) are gone/leaving. What is left is un-qualified people who are highly political. - Racism is high and each team is polarized with people from the same race. - Beware if you are an engineer/senior/staff : Managers will use you and dump you after they get promoted. - Poor Work Life Balance and Un-ethical colleagues. - No bonus/RSU and promotions for 2016. - Software Engineers can learn nothing at Qualcomm. - Work Quality Standards are lowering each day: Jobs are moving to China/India.

Pros

Pay and benefits are good. Culture used to be awesome.

Cons

So why did I quit? Highly political work environment, no more raises, lack of job stability (management said no layoffs in our small team but one week later, one of our teammates is gone), work/life balance is pretty bad for hardworking, competent workers but great for career inhouse politicians who like to "work from home."

Pros

- Competitive pay for SD area - Lots of great people - Lots to learn technically and smart people to learn from - Interesting products to work on - Flexible hours - Fitness facilities in almost every building - Great city to live and work in

Cons

- Non-optimal management structure (too many cooks in the kitchen) - Going through cost reduction, so lots of penny pinching - Engineering teams being outsourced, or under threat of outsourcing to India - Bell curved performance reviews - Promotion quotas to limit number of promotions per review cycle (in some teams) - Arbitrary "minimum-time-served" promotion prerequisites regardless of whether employees deserve it or not (in some teams) - Executive management taking vast sums of money as bonuses and skimping on bonuses for the little guys - Very large company, so you get buried in corporate culture and bureaucracy at times - Career advancement has a ceiling in a lot of teams due to top heavy nature of this company - Recurring layoff rounds lately
