Pros

Relaxed atmosphere, with a mostly set schedule. The employees are nice to one another most of the time. There is a possibility of raises. Depending on the current management, the hotel is great to work at if you are good with guests and customer service.

Cons

The corporation that oversees many of the hotels in the area, A&R Group, are selfish individuals that will do everything in the power to avoid fixing a problem, while causing problems of their own. They will harass management if there is a room out of order, instead of approving it to be fixed, so most managers will hide that their rooms are horrible. There has been numerous occasions where one of the upper management of this group will enter the hotel with minimal knowledge and literally scream at whoever is working. They have also been known to fire people for things they didn't do, or reprimand the wrong individuals. To avoid their sales being affected for a certain quarter, they also will wait to fix things like fire systems and elevators, so it looks better on their sales. I recall an elevator being down for over a MONTH because of this. Management is usually fine, but will occasionally make a stupid demand without any reasoning given. If you get injured, A&R and the hotel you are with, will not know how to handle the situation. The HR has been known to pressure people into not seeking help in a reasonable manner, and also have accused those that call of fabricating their issues. In short, if you want to work at a hotel involved with A&R, you better get yourself a lawyer and a therapist. As for the hotel's cleanliness, I have seen multiple spots of black mold, bugs, and the hotel has not done any major renovations in over 5 years, with the exception of fixing their roof and fence due to a hurricane. They have even removed certain amenities for guests, because it was the cheaper solution.
