Pros
The fact that I’ve been with this company for 17+ years speaks volumes. I had a desire to work with computers, and when I joined QualityLogic my skills were hobbyist at best. I knew how to install Windows and I knew how to use Microsoft apps. I had some limited understanding of networking. The company recognized my potential and hired me as an entry level test technician, and this entry level job turned into a career.
This naturally leads me to explain a large Part of what I love about this company. They have provided me with every opportunity, and they give the same opportunity to others. How well you do at QualityLogic is based entirely on how well you do your job. The company has a well maintained policy of hiring from within, and promoting those who have the ability and determination to shine.
I’ve worked every position the company has had to offer, from entry level test technician, through QA engineer, Project Lead, Project manager, and now a test facility manager. During that journey every promotion has been based on ability, and the company being open to promoting from within.
Another aspect of this company that amazes me is their loyalty. There is no easy way to describe a company that stood by me as I went through the transition from being sighted to legally blind? They saw someone who would work hard to beat the odds, and they took the risk. Where many companies might have distance themselves, they stood by and provided the tools needed to succeed.
When it comes to growth, QualityLogic has provided me with every opportunity to grow as an individual. By placing me in an environment where individuals could mentor and instruct me on best practices and specific technologies. I have grown my own skill set a tremendous amount by interacting with peers and superiors to the extent that now, I am one of those who continue the practice by mentoring others. In some regards working at QualityLogic could almost be described as entering an apprenticeship, where the individual can become a master QA expert in their own right.
There is a strong culture within the company to provide excellent results and to delight the customer, and that culture creates a workplace where every staff member is seen as a valuable contributor. The company is a team of enthusiasts and experts who simply love doing what we do, and this makes for an awesome workplace.
Cons
Nothing is perfect yet only one major con comes to mind.
Because of the type of industry that QualityLogic services, there are busy times and some slack times. In my early days with the company I had to spend some time at home, but to counter that there were often times when huge amounts of overtime were necessary.
The company has always done its best to manage the resources to keep the best contributors working, but there have been times in the past where even top contributors have had to spend some time at home. The company though does its best in being transparent and realistic in setting expectations.
