A sad, sad little company

Pros

At Quancast you will work with some incredibly smart and humble individual contributors and a select few of really great middle managers. These people have small egos and good work ethic. They deserve to work for companies that care about them as humans.

Cons

- Many of your favorite coworkers will get laid off. QC has had more layoffs than I can count and they sweep them under the rug. - The pay is inadequate. How do you expect people to be in the office 3x/week if many can't afford to live near the office? - Severance for those who are laid off is embarrassing. 2 weeks + 1 week for every full year at the company. - The company is doing very poorly. Aside from many IC roles being cut, I saw about half a dozen directors get the boot in the span of a year or so - They have no problem offshoring jobs to people who are paid a fraction of your salary. These people produce sub optimal work and you will be expected to overcompensate for it. QC is truly contributing to the death of full time entry level jobs. - Bonuses and raises have either been slashed or cut out completely for years.

Pros

There's free food, snacks, and a lot of tech perks like happy hour, team bonding events, and parties. If you survive, you can learn a lot and move up in your career.

Cons

This was the worst job I've had and a lot of pressure, since the company itself is not doing very well. They're constantly looking to cut costs and people are looking to remove bottom performers by putting them on PIPs or just laying them off altogether. When I was working here, people were laid off due to "poor performance" every few weeks, when in reality it was the training that was insufficient and managers that were inexperienced. Do to the pressure, people are constantly throwing people from other teams under the bus to make sure they're not the ones that are cut. If you have morals and don't throw people from other teams under the bus, you become the next target on the chopping block. Unless you have no choice, I would recommend looking for another role. The low compensation for the years of stress was not worth it.
